About the role

  • Support the product strategy and roadmap in alignment with organizational goals.
  • Understand user needs, market trends, and competitive landscape.
  • Learn and apply an understanding of the assigned Guidewire center and its capabilities to help guide development decisions.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to ensure user stories and backlog items are aligned with Guidewire system capabilities and integration points.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for stakeholders and the development team regarding questions on the usability and functionality of the assigned Guidewire center, and to represent the development team and ensure clear communication of product capabilities and limitations.
  • Create, prioritize, and maintain a well-groomed product backlog.
  • Write clear and actionable user stories with acceptance criteria.
  • Ensure backlog items are ready for development according to definition of ready (DoR).
  • Assist in documenting and refining requirements for enhancements or changes within the assigned Guidewire module.
  • Participate in planning, daily stand-ups, refinement, and retrospectives.
  • Make real-time decisions on scope, priority, and trade-offs to meet release goals.
  • Work with cross-functional teams including UX/UI, development, QA, and business operations.
  • Communicate progress, priorities, and risks effectively to stakeholders.
  • Gather feedback from internal and external users to refine product direction.
  • Track product performance against KPIs and user satisfaction metrics.
  • Analyze user feedback and data to inform product enhancements and ensure the delivered product meets business needs.
  • Recommend process improvements to enhance delivery efficiency and product quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or equivalent industry experience of 1–3 years as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or in a related Agile role.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities both written and verbal.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to do research and work with subject matter experts and senior executive management.
  • Insurance experience, preferably Property and Casualty Insurance domain.
  • Experience with the Guidewire suite of products preferred.
  • Experience with software development processes preferred.
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner® (CSPO®) from Scrum Alliance or equivalent (recommended for entry-level Product Owners) preferred.
