About the role

  • Senior Human Rights Manager overseeing FIFA's human rights strategies and policies. Coordinating with stakeholders to ensure compliance and promote international human rights standards.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the operational implementation and further development of FIFA’s human rights due diligence processes, in line with FIFA’s Human Rights Policy, the FIFA Statutes and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.
  • Facilitate the secretariat of the FIFA Sub-Committee on Human Rights & Social Responsibility and the FIFA Social Responsibility Committee.
  • Develop, coordinate and implement human rights-related strategies, progress tracking mechanisms and programmes in relation to FIFA events, with a particular focus on the FIFA World Cup 2030™, the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027™, the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2031™ and the FIFA World Cup 2034™, ensuring close collaboration with respective host entities.
  • Develop and deliver human rights-related educational programmes for FIFA Member Associations and address human rights-related risks in football at national levels.
  • Promote the integration of international human rights standards into FIFA regulations governing football.
  • Coordinate the collaboration with the FIFA Sub-Committee on Human Rights & Social Responsibility, and lead the engagement with partners such as the Centre for Sport and Human Rights and other relevant entities.
  • Engage proactively and meaningfully with external stakeholders, paying particular attention to groups or populations at a heightened risk of adverse impact, including but not limited to women and children; indigenous peoples; national or ethnic, religious and linguistic minorities; persons with disabilities; migrant workers and their families; human rights defenders, journalists and other media workers; LGBTQI+ individuals and communities; groups that suffer from intersectional discrimination, unsheltered populations; and underserved populations – as well as their legitimate representatives.
  • Engage proactively and meaningfully with fan representatives and fan organisations.
  • Lead human rights-related reporting initiatives in line with relevant international standards and promote the proactive communication of FIFA’s human rights-related activities.
  • Closely monitor international best practice and legislative and intergovernmental developments and advise the Head of Human Rights & Anti-Discrimination on their implication for the strategic orientation of FIFA’s human rights programme.
  • Collaborate closely and constructively with other members of the FIFA Human Rights & Anti-Discrimination Department, FIFA Communications and other FIFA functional areas and local entities responsible for the organization of FIFA competitions.

Requirements

  • True subject matter expert with track record of 5+, ideally 8+ years as a results-oriented business and human rights professional in an international context
  • Experience in implementing labor rights
  • Demonstrated experience and success in engaging with human rights stakeholders
  • Fluent in English
  • Proficiency in another or other languages (in particular Arabic, French, Portuguese and/or Spanish) is an asset
  • Proficient in Word / PowerPoint / Excel / Monday.com with miro and Canva being an asset
  • High ethical standards and personal integrity
  • In-depth knowledge of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and other recognised international human rights standards, and experience in applying them in a corporate environment
  • Good understanding of international affairs and stakeholders relevant to football and human rights
  • Strong interpersonal capabilities and an excellent ability to communicate effectively and build positive relationships across teams and stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate successfully in a complex organisational environment.
  • Good strategic and conceptual thinking paired with the ability to action strategies and achieve significant results
  • Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong entrepreneurial spirit with drive, ambition and resilience
  • Intercultural competence, diplomacy, and ability to work in a politically sensitive, global environment
  • A high degree of emotional intelligence, combined with an understanding of the specific enthusiasm and commitment present in the global football family and its universe
  • Willingness to travel
