About the role

  • Director leading complex negotiations for licensing and IP agreements at Evonik. Driving innovative business strategies across healthcare-related services in North America.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and close complex, high-stakes negotiations for licensing, service, supply, and IP-related commercial agreements
  • Review, draft, and negotiate a wide range of contracts (e.g., confidentiality, service, supply, licensing, development)
  • Develop and execute IP licensing strategies to maximize revenue, market reach, and alignment with business goals
  • Partner cross-functionally with product, legal, IP, finance, and sales teams to support deal execution and strategy
  • Act as primary contact for active contracts, manage amendments, and resolve project-related issues
  • Provide training and guidance on contract management processes and best practices
  • Protect and leverage intellectual property to enhance profitability and long-term competitive advantage
  • Maintain and update contract templates to reflect evolving business and legal requirements
  • Lead or support strategic initiatives and special projects to drive innovation and organizational success

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific, technical, business, or legal field; IP or business training preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in pharma, CDMO/CMO, or venture capital, with focus on business development, licensing, M&A, or procurement
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and closing complex negotiations and deals
  • Strong expertise in intellectual property, preferably within CDMO/CMO and pharma drug development
  • Ability to simplify complexity, assess risk, and develop practical, creative contract solutions
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, including engagement with senior stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to convey complex ideas clearly
  • Ability to work effectively in a global, cross-functional, and collaborative environment
  • Proactive, resourceful, and results-driven mindset in fast-paced or ambiguous settings
