About the role
- Laboratory Analyst operating various instruments for oil sands laboratory analysis in Fort MacMurray. Delivering high quality analytical data and participating in health and safety programs.
Responsibilities
- Independently operate various instruments including GC’s, Viscometers, Digital Density Meter, Dean Stark and particle sized analysis for Petroleum Plant Operation
- Perform sample preparation
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s)
- Deliver high quality analytical data accurately and on time
- Efficiently handle glassware and equipment for extractions, refluxes and preparation
- Maintain proper calibration, quality control records and routine maintenance procedures
- Execute daily troubleshooting methods of analytical equipment
- Ensure adherence to Bureau Veritas’s policies, certifications and accreditations
- Actively participate in Bureau Veritas’s Health and Safety Program (meetings, near miss and incident reporting, hazard assessment)
Requirements
- Minimum Education: Diploma in related field (Required)
- 1-3 years of experience in related field (Required)
- High level of work production in fast-paced lab environment.
- Can involve the repetition of the same process.
- Requires patience, tenacity and persistence.
- Flexible working hours, overtime and shift work
- May involve long periods of standing
- Some lifting and carrying (up to 40 lbs)
- Hazardous materials are handled using established safety procedures and appropriate equipment.
