About the role

  • Develops and scales up inspection and verification services for major clients in Agri commodities supply chain. Strategic role focusing on business development, operations, and client management.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage interactions with major commodity traders in East and Southern Africa and support their inspection and verification needs.
  • Develop and execute business strategy to support the commodity trading services and supply chain (purchasing, storing, transporting and distribution)
  • Ensure comprehensive support for clients at every stage of the supply chain with BV tailored solutions.
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with stakeholders to facilitate trade and business growth.
  • Conduct comprehensive market analysis to identify trends, market conditions, risks, and opportunities within the Agri trade sector and provide BV solutions needed to support clients.
  • Ensure all BV solutions comply with local and international regulations and standards.
  • Build and lead a high-performing team of operations and certification specialists, providing direction, motivation, and opportunities for professional development.
  • Identify new market segments and geographic opportunities within East and Southern Africa.
  • Manage budgets and optimize resource allocation
  • Achieve business unit budget objectives in terms of revenue, operating profit margin, operating expenditure and capital equipment utilisation.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in either Agricultural Economics, Agri Business, Commodity Trade or related field
  • Bachelor’s degree in the same fields with additional MBA will be considered
  • 8+ years in commodity trading, logistics, supply chain management or related industries
  • Strong understanding of the Agri commodities market in East and Southern Africa and good knowledge of global commodity markets (grains, pulses, oils & oilseeds, sugar, feed meal, fertilizer, etc.)
  • Familiarity with international trade compliance requirements and standards such as GAFTA; FOSFA and ISO 17020
  • Good knowledge of P&L management and revenue growth
  • Strong business acumen and ability to generate leads and identify strategic areas for growth.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with ability to work in a fast-paced and a highly competitive environment.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Data-driven decision-making capabilities
  • Multilingual abilities (English + 1-2 additional languages preferred)
