About the role

  • Second Line Support Engineer at Babcock, ensuring reliable satellite communications for the UK Armed Forces. Responsible for maintenance, troubleshooting, and providing technical support in a secure environment.

Responsibilities

  • Complete routine and scheduled maintenance in line with work orders, maintenance schedules, and support documentation.
  • Drive reactive maintenance activities and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Report, diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve system alarms and anomalies.
  • Produce comprehensive fault reports and accurately record all maintenance activities.
  • Work closely with stakeholders and operational support teams to ensure the delivery of satellite services.
  • Provide out‑of‑hours technical on‑call support to the Operations team.

Requirements

  • CompTIA Network+ or equivalent experience.
  • Understanding and experience of maintaining high‑power RF (Radio Frequency) transmission and antenna systems.
  • Competence and certification to work at height.
  • Skilled in installing and repairing fibre and copper cable systems.
  • Proven experience in maintaining and fault‑finding on satellite communications equipment, including control and monitoring systems.
  • Strong organisational and workload‑prioritisation skills, with the ability to work autonomously.
  • HNC or above in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (or relevant equivalent experience).
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) qualified/competent.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
  • Must be Sole UK national.
