About the role

  • Family Support Specialist supervising family visits to promote safe reunification. Engaging with families and providing transportation and coaching as needed in a compassionate environment.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise visits in the client home, community during the evenings (2pm-8pm) and regularly at least one weekend day each week.
  • Provide engaging parenting skills assistant, help to strengthen a family’s bond, and in the moment redirection and parent coaching.
  • Advocate for the families, setting goals with the assistance of the caseworker and families.
  • Document progress, report any concerns of alleged abuse/neglect, testify in court as needed, and provide transportation for the children and families.

Requirements

  • Reliable Transportation to safely transport children and meet families.
  • Valid insurance and drivers license required.
  • Clear Communication and strong documentation skills.
  • Positive Rapport with families to build trust and provide meaningful support.
  • Education: Preferred Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services field, But NOT Required !(Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Counseling, etc).
  • Experience: Prior experience working with kids, crisis intervention and conflict resolution, and knowledge of child development and the child welfare system.
  • Age Requirement: Candidates must be at least 21 years old.
  • Background & Driving Record: Clear criminal history and a driving record with no more than three points assessed.
  • Communication & Writing Skills: Strong written communication skills for accurate and unbiased documentation, as well as excellent verbal communication skills via phone and email.
