About the role
- Work as a trainee patent attorney assisting with a variety of work for local and overseas clients.
- Work on protecting innovations for tech clients (e.g., AI/ML, bioinformatics) from day one.
- Trained by Partners and Senior Associates; participate in in-house and external exam-specific tutorials to qualify as UK and European patent attorneys.
- Join meetings with inventors, observe hearings/trials, and learn from paralegals.
- Gain experience preparing and filing patent applications in the UK and Europe.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate complex technical matters in writing.
Requirements
- Have a degree or PhD in Physics/Theoretical Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering or similar.
- Preferably, your degree included modules focused on Artificial Intelligence/machine learning, but this is not essential.
- Knowledge of and interest in any of the following areas would be advantageous: machine learning models, image recognition, object detection, speech recognition, natural language processing, and data mining.
- Good communicator both in writing and verbally.
- Recent graduates welcome; up to two years of experience working as a trainee patent attorney in the UK accepted.
