Studio & Live Events Engineer managing production for CarMax events with hands-on technical expertise. Overseeing studio operations and ensuring exceptional audio-visual experiences.
Responsibilities
Lead Studio Production and Maintenance
Manage all aspects of the studio control room including but limited to camera operation, lighting operation, controlling the images/animations that appear on the large LED wall and flanking monitors
Running audio set-ups including microphone choice and placement and sound mixing for all studio and stage programs
Props and stage settings included in productions
Green screen programming and background replacement (live and recorded)
Maintenance and storage of all raw elements that are captured in the studio
Creation of graphic elements featured in live and recorded programming
Editorial duties for recorded film programs that will be submitted for client approval
On point for maintaining the hardware and software in the studio space, as well as owning the relationships with external vendors who assist in studio upkeep, specifically DVG, Ross, Avid and FX
Lead Live Center Stage Events
On point for live camera switching, lighting, audio and stage direction
Responsible for switching sources between live speakers, remote speakers, PowerPoints/videos, and determining when to utilize a 2-box (picture-in-picture) display for remote viewers
Assist in creation and production of in-show activities such as the games we feature during Quarterly Communications Meetings and other company and department events
Integral in the planning and blocking of these events to ensure the best possible viewer experience for both in-person and remote attendees
Partner closely with Technology to ensure that all systems work properly and strive to improve the experience and technology whenever possible
Build Relationships
Build and sustain effective working relationships internally and externally
Collaborate with Creative, Technology and Internal Communications teams to ensure quality experience for all attendees and viewers
Partner closely with project managers, producers & clients to balance multiple projects
Manage expectations of and relationships with Senior Leadership; a great deal of the Studio production work features Executive talent so building partnerships through trust and strong communication is a must
Optimize Resources
Keep all hardware and software up to date and operational
On point for ensuring all software and hardware remain compatible despite inconsistent manufacturer updates and internal internet security regulations
Maintain positive and trusting relationships with vendors who will assist with upgrades, equipment replacement, etc.
Continue to refine the Center Stage experience; given the elements and historical construction of our building, there are audio and lighting challenges that need continuous improvement
Requirements
Four years college degree (BA/BS) in Mass Communication, Broadcasting, Journalism or related field preferred, but not required
5 or more years of experience in production, especially helpful to understand TV/broadcast news and live event process and equipment
Excellence in the key hardware and software such as robotic cameras, CueScript teleprompter, various wireless microphones, mixing live sound and running a broadcast-level control board for recording and live events
Adobe Creative Suite experience a plus
Ability to incorporate feedback and take/give clear direction
Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
Impeccable organizational skills and ability to work independently, manage multiple work streams, and deliver on tight deadlines
