About the role

  • Support multiple research sales representatives by providing information specific to safety, including technical information and product recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain effective customer relations with all customers and potential customers in the assigned territory.
  • Seek out broader relationships within accounts to facilitate networking and prospecting.
  • Develop and implement sales strategies and plans to expand business within assigned territory; maintain a pipeline of opportunities.
  • Implement customer specific action plans, perform hazard assessments, make product recommendations, and provide product training regarding occupational health and safety equipment.
  • Research competitor and industry activity and incorporate findings into business plans; introduce new products and services.
  • Manage pricing within territory to control profitability and maintain accurate reporting, records, and files for territory management.
  • Inform customers of supply and price trends and assist in inventory control; consult with customers.
  • Positively represent Thermo Fisher Scientific at all times throughout customer locations.
  • Visit customer sites in person as a field-based role and achieve sales and profit forecasts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably with a technical degree in safety, EH&S, QA, environmental science or science.
  • 5+ years of sales experience, preferably in safety products or controlled environment products, or industry equivalent.
  • Prior sales experience is required.
  • Knowledge of safety and cleanroom standards is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication, and presentation skills.
  • Solid understanding of CRM systems such as SalesForce.com.
  • Must possess the interpersonal skills to multi-task and meet deadlines as needed.
  • Strong industry, pharmaceutical and science background preferred.
  • Able and willing to travel to customer locations.
