About the role

  • Planning what work needs to be done, when and who’s going to do it.
  • Looking at the risks involved in a particular project and managing these risks.
  • Motivating people involved in the project.
  • Co-ordinating work done by different people, with responsibility for the work to be done to the agreed standard.
  • Responsible for the project running on time and to budget.
  • Dealing with changes to the project as and when necessary.
  • Driving the project to deliver the expected outcomes and benefits.
  • Working to the RDG Project Delivery Framework and ensuring that others do too.

Requirements

  • Solid experience of delivering complex projects within the UK rail industry sector.
  • Subject matter expertise in retail / digital ticketing / customer propositions.
  • Experience of work on technology / software implementations.
  • Managing project scope and changes.
  • Preparing estimates and a detailed project plan for all phases of the project.
  • Procuring adequate resources to achieve project objectives in planned timeframes.
  • Managing project budgets and cost control experience.
  • Managing risk, understanding the risk context and demonstrating a range of risk techniques.
  • Experience in dealing with and managing external resource, including third party contracts and procurement.
  • Managing ongoing quality control and participating in quality issue resolution.
  • Managing all aspects of multiple related projects to ensure an overall programme is aligned to and directly supports the achievement of strategic objectives.
  • Understanding interdependencies between technology, operations and business needs.
  • Highly experienced in planning, reporting and stakeholder management.
  • Extensive understanding of project and programme management principles, methods and processes.
