Responsibilities
Take ownership of the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring all journal entries, reconciliations, and reports are completed accurately and on time.
Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations for key accounts, investigating and resolving variances promptly.
Work closely with local accounting partners and auditors to ensure statutory compliance and accurate financial statements under local GAAP and IFRS.
Prepare financial information and reports required by local regulators and authorities, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely submission.
Oversee and execute Accounts Payable (AP) activities, including vendor invoices, employee expenses, and payments, ensuring proper controls and documentation.
Collaborate with the global Finance & Accounting team to align accounting data with group reporting and support consolidation.
Partner with Engineering and Finance Operations to automate manual accounting tasks, improve accuracy, and streamline workflows.
Support tax and compliance processes by preparing required information and ensuring deadlines are met.
Participate in financial risk assessment and control reviews, maintaining strong internal control over accounting processes.
Create and maintain clear documentation of accounting procedures and controls, ensuring standardization across entities.
Contribute to process improvement initiatives, suggesting better tools, automation, and best practices for the team.
Uphold confidentiality and integrity in all financial and operational matters.
Requirements
Certified Accountant (“Contabilista Certificado”) in Portugal.
8–10 years of experience, including Big 4 audit background (financial services clients preferred).
Strong technical knowledge of Portuguese GAAP and solid understanding of IFRS.
Proven experience managing month-end close, audits, and external accounting providers.
Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred) and advanced Excel skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Good communication skills and a collaborative attitude.
Fluent in English (Portuguese required).
