About the role

  • Program Manager responsible for strategic oversight of IT programs in transportation. Ensures delivery on time, within budget, and aligned with partner agency objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the principal point of contact for all contractor-related activities under this IT program.
  • Oversee and manage all technical and business work to ensure quality, timeliness, and budget compliance.
  • Strategically direct IT support services for transportation projects, aligning with Volpe Center and partner agency objectives.
  • Manage overall program performance, including allocation of resources across multiple tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and guidance related to transportation systems and functions.
  • Facilitate communication and coordination with partner agencies such as the FAA and FRA.
  • Drive initiatives that advance transportation innovation and support the Volpe Center mission.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in a business-related field, IT, or Engineering
  • Minimum of 15 years of program management experience in transportation systems programs
  • In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations applicable to transportation systems
  • Prior experience working with the US DOT Volpe Center or similar transportation-focused organizations
  • Strong leadership, strategic planning, and resource management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex programs, including budgeting, scheduling, and team coordination.
