About the role

  • Establish and maintain program accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE)
  • Coordinate the Program’s compliance with all expected standards and rules and timely submission of required fees and documentation (graduation rates, performance on state licensing exams)
  • Notify accrediting bodies about expected or unexpected substantive changes and any change in institutional accreditation status or legal authority to provide post-secondary education
  • Assure access to applicable standards for faculty and establish expectation for compliance
  • Come into compliance with accreditation criteria within 2 years if determined out of compliance
  • Maintain accurate public information on the program website regarding accreditation status and current student achievement measures
  • Follow CAPTE policies and procedures as outlined in The CAPTE Rules of Practice and Procedure
  • Develop and maintain a contemporary, evidence-based DPT curriculum that meets accreditation standards and program goals
  • Develop, maintain, and uphold regulations, policies and procedures that meet accreditation standards
  • Provide leadership, vision, and strategic direction for the DPT Program and collaborate with other South College DPT Programs
  • Provide faculty and staff mentorship and regular evaluations, including organized professional development plans
  • Plan and administrate the campus’ DPT budget and financial resources to support program needs
  • Plan and conduct DPT Program faculty meetings and recruit faculty
  • Provide recommendations on continued employment and promotion of faculty per South College faculty rank system
  • Teach courses as agreed with the School of Rehabilitation Sciences Dean and in compliance with CAPTE standards
  • Advise and mentor graduate DPT students and participate in scholarly activities, committee work, curriculum planning, and development
  • Travel to the Pittsburgh Campus in Cranberry Township, PA every quarter for on-ground lab intensives

Requirements

  • Earned terminal academic doctorate in a discipline appropriate for teaching responsibilities
  • At least 6 years of experience of full-time higher education experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a core faculty member in a CAPTE accredited entry-level physical therapist education program
  • Senior faculty rank (Associate Professor or higher), with experience consistent with South College system for designated faculty rank
  • Understanding of higher education and contemporary clinical practice appropriate for leadership in physical therapy education
  • Knowledge of legislative, regulatory, legal, and practice issues affecting clinical education, students, and the profession of physical therapy, including CAPTE Accreditation Standards
  • Active in clinical practice, especially as applicable to clinical education
  • Active in professional activities at local, state, and/or national levels
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure in Pennsylvania or the state of residence
