About the role
- Lead fire engineering projects and produce strategies for Bureau Veritas clients, mentoring junior engineers and ensuring UK standards compliance
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive fire engineering services throughout all stages of building design, construction and operation
- Deliver fire consultancy services and fire strategy reports with minimal support
- Produce specialised reports and review/approve fee proposals
- Lead project teams as Lead or Project Director and mentor junior engineers
- Undertake leadership responsibilities on larger projects and frameworks
- Respond to clients in a timely and professional manner, including challenging clients under pressure
- Undertake business development responsibilities when applicable
- Contribute to weekly technical CPD presentations and attend management and leadership meetings
Requirements
- Degree in Fire Engineering or equivalent engineering qualification
- Masters in Fire Engineering or Engineering will be an advantage
- Significant experience in fire engineering
- Excellent understanding of UK legislation, standards and guidance (Building Regulations – Approved Document B, BS 9999, BS 9991, BS 7974, Scottish guidance)
- Experience of site visits/inspection for existing buildings and during construction
- Effective communication skills
- Customer focused and strong interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical and good report writing skills
- Up to date CPD records and working towards achieving IFE chartership
- Have extensive experience with HRBs
