About the role

  • Lead on the day-to-day caseload of information requests received under the Freedom of Information Act and Environmental Information Regulations, in compliance with statutory timeframes
  • Assist in the recording and housekeeping of all correspondence, including FOI requests logged on the Salesforce CRM system
  • Provide support in updating and maintaining EWR Co’s Publication Scheme
  • Clarify, analyse and interpret information requests and correspondence enquiries; draft responses as necessary
  • Work closely with the Correspondence Manager to seek reviews and approvals for drafts
  • Provide specialist advice to colleagues dealing with requests under FOIA and EIR, including exemption and exception advice
  • Assist with preparation of information for release under access to information legislation, ensuring accurate and good quality information
  • Keep abreast of developments in information access; receive training and disseminate information
  • Work with correspondence executives to maintain a list of subject matter experts and store information for regular requests
  • Support the Head of External Engagement and act as a trusted advisor and critical friend to the EWR Co Board, Management Team and business
  • Demonstrate a cost-conscious mindset and a commitment to innovation
  • Act as a role model for EWR Co’s vision and behaviours and adhere to Health and Safety principles

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in handling and responding to requests under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)
  • Theoretical and practical understanding of the Freedom of Information Act and the Environmental Information Regulations
  • Proven ability to redact documents and prepare disclosure schedules for proposed disclosures
  • Excellent analytical skills, including understanding of modelling and forecasting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to distil complex technical material
  • Ability to manage and prioritise work in response to competing demands
  • Able to foster positive relationships with colleagues across the organisation
  • Able to work unsupervised and as a team player; use initiative
  • Discreet and able to maintain confidentiality
  • A relevant qualification in Information or Records Management at degree level or equivalent professional experience
