About the role

  • Lead a team of engineers building and maintaining foundational infrastructure, tooling, and internal platforms for FanDuel
  • Responsible for day-to-day team management, technical direction, and delivering outcomes that support scalability, reliability, and efficiency
  • Report to the Senior Engineering Manager and collaborate with peers across engineering, security, and product
  • Mentor and develop engineers through feedback, coaching, and career development planning
  • Support hiring and onboarding of new team members and ensure cultural alignment
  • Facilitate sprint planning, set priorities, and align with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Drive delivery of projects and initiatives aligned with organizational goals and platform engineering strategy
  • Partner with other teams to manage technical dependencies, address blockers, and drive initiatives to completion
  • Define and track operational metrics (e.g., SLOs) to measure platform performance and reliability
  • Promote engineering best practices: code quality, testing, observability, and security-by-design
  • Advocate for continuous improvement in engineering processes and team culture

Requirements

  • Proven experience managing engineering teams in platform, infrastructure, or DevOps domains
  • Excellent people leadership skills with a passion for growing high-performing, inclusive teams
  • Proven ability to lead one or more workstreams and drive team execution aligned with strategic goals
  • Track record of delivering scalable, reliable internal platforms or services that improve developer velocity
  • Technical background with ability to understand architectural discussions and evaluate trade-offs
  • Experience with modern infrastructure tools and practices such as Kubernetes, cloud-native platforms, CI/CD systems, observability tooling, and infrastructure as code
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills across functional boundaries
  • Mindset of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Exposure to emerging innovative technologies in business applications is an advantage
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse teams across departments
  • Proven ability to set ambitious goals and continuously strive for improvement
  • Strong focus on achieving high-quality outcomes and greater efficiency
  • Ability to make informed and confident decisions and meet stakeholder needs
