About the role

  • Oversee bookkeeping and accounting operations across multiple nonprofit clients (month-end, reconciliations, reporting, compliance).
  • Manage and review the work of bookkeepers to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and consistency.
  • Serve as the primary client contact for assigned accounts, leading onboarding, financial reviews, and client communications.
  • Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for recurring processes (AP, AR, reconciliations, reporting).
  • Support system setup and integrations (QuickBooks Online, Plooto, Float, Dext, Payworks).
  • Collaborate with the Company's Principal and senior team on resource planning, scopes of work, and delivery timelines.
  • Lead internal training and knowledge-sharing across the finance team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business; CPA designation or equivalent is an asset.
  • 5-7 years of progressive accounting or bookkeeping experience, including 2-3 years in a management or supervisory role.
  • Strong understanding of accounting operations, month-end close, and reconciliations.
  • Proficient in QuickBooks Online, with experience using Plooto, Float, Payworks, or Dext.
  • Strong communication skills and proven experience managing client relationships.
  • Experience with nonprofits or professional services firms is an advantage.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive in process improvement.
