About the role
- Provide legal counsel and risk assessment regarding employment matters to HR and business stakeholders
- Serve as primary legal support for Human Resources partners, senior management, company executives and key functions
- Manage and select outside counsel and develop strategies for employment litigation
- Direct pre-litigation employment matters and responses to complaints from opposing counsel and government agencies
- Partner with leadership of HR, Sales, Operations, Finance, Safety and Compliance to support initiatives
- Provide daily advice and counsel regarding legal compliance and risk avoidance
- Manage outside counsel fees and costs to maintain efficiency
- Participate in cross-functional teams to support enterprise-wide initiatives, policies and strategies
- Prepare materials and conduct training for internal business clients on strategic initiatives and legal matters
Requirements
- Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
- 6+ years legal experience, including practicing and litigating at a law firm and in-house
- Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills
- Creative problem solving
- Aptitude to work collaboratively
- Ability to effectively and efficiently manage multiple time-sensitive projects simultaneously
- Strong leadership skills and client service orientation
- Ability to manage high volume of employment and employment litigation matters
- Above-average command of English, both oral and written, and excellent grammar, proofreading, punctuation and spelling skills
- Above-average arithmetic skills
- Authorized to work in the United States
- Willingness/ability to travel up to 25%
- Ability to sit for long periods, perform lengthy typing tasks, multitask under stress
