About the role

• Legal Counsel responsible for data privacy initiatives within an international Legal Team. Supporting projects and advising departments on compliance for a family-run healthcare company.

Responsibilities

• Further development and maintenance of the record of processing activities (RoPA) and conducting risk analyses, Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and Transfer Impact Assessments (TIAs)
• Drafting, reviewing and negotiating data protection agreements, consent forms and privacy notices
• Advising business units and international subsidiaries on all data protection matters and directing required remedial actions
• Collaborating on digitalization projects and reviewing websites and social media presences
• Managing and handling data protection incidents (data breaches) and rolling out the data deletion concept
• Designing and delivering data protection training and further developing e-learning offerings
• Collaborating with the Group Privacy Officer and implementing data protection and compliance SOPs

Requirements

• Degree in law or equivalent; ideally with the German second state law exam (Assessorexamen) and qualification as company counsel (Syndikusrechtsanwalt)
• Minimum of 5 years' relevant professional experience as a lawyer, legal counsel or data protection officer
• Excellent knowledge of data protection law, in particular experience building and maintaining a privacy management system
• Experience with the data protection requirements of a pharmaceutical company is an advantage
• Strong communication skills, assertiveness and a solution-oriented approach
• Highly organized, reliable and committed
• Business-fluent German and English (written and spoken)
