Manager overseeing Power Marketing and Trading responsible for developing strategies and leading a team. Focused on monetizing WM’s energy portfolio in US and Canada.
Responsibilities
Researches short and medium term market activity / trends and develops a strategic and tactical plan to monetize WM’s energy portfolio, particularly electricity, renewable credits and electricity capacity market in the US and Canada.
Responsible for short and medium term energy, capacity, and renewable credit research, analysis, valuation and transactions. Experience with tagging and scheduling power, experience precuring transmission and reserving ramp would be an asset.
Leads a small team of marketing/trading employees. Responsible for coaching, directing and motivating them to be successful.
Manages relationships with partners, counterparties on behalf of WM.
Works closely with WM functions in plant operations, compliance and regulatory to establish and understand the power and natural gas position available for sale and purchase.
Works with WMRE senior management to establish strategy and resources as appropriate.
Works with internal and external customers, suppliers and other partners to resolve problems, respond to suggestions for improvement and enhancements, test, refine and institutionalize solutions.
Responsible for advising management on sales, trading and hedging strategies and activities.
Experience in buying/procuring power or gas at a retail level.
Familiar with energy transaction systems (Nymex, ICE, Nodal) as well as Over-the-Counter transactions.
Prior experience working with mid and back office employees systems (while not essential) would be helpful.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree (accredited)
High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and four years of relevant work experience
5 years of relevant work experience in energy commodity markets (in addition to education requirement)
Strong character, able to cope successfully with demanding and fast-paced energy environment.
