About the role

  • Technical Director overseeing technical strategies and team collaboration at Virtuos. Leading game development projects with a focus on quality and performance in a hybrid environment.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical liaison between the studio and clients. Address technical inquiries, provide solutions to client challenges, and ensure that the technical aspects of the project meet client expectations;
  • Develop and implement technical strategies and solutions for complex projects, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency;
  • Oversee the technical team, including software engineers, technical artists, and other specialists. Provide mentorship, guidance, and performance feedback, while fostering a collaborative work environment;
  • Establish the development strategy and the staff plan for the entrusted project proposals and work on proposals to acquire new projects;
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including system designs, technical specifications, and project reports. Communicate technical progress and risks to stakeholders and upper management;
  • Research cutting-edge technologies for application within the games industry;
  • Report project risks on time, propose mitigations, and escalate risks when needed.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of programming experience, with **a minimum of 3 years of leadership experience in the games industry;**
  • Have taken part in at least one of the releases of an AA/AAA game at a significant position in the development team;
  • Advanced understanding of C++ and knowledge of other programming languages like C#, Objective-C, LUA, Unreal Script, or Python;
  • Strong experience with modern game engines (Unity, Unreal Engine);
  • Solid understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and OOP;
  • Hands-on experience with various game platforms: PC, console;
  • Strong leadership and strategic thinking, high level of ownership and initiative;
  • Project and people management skills, strong communication skills;
  • Bachelor's degree in IT, computer science, or related fields;
  • **At least B2 English level;**
  • Background in outsourcing or service-based projects will be a plus.
