About the role

  • Cloud Architect designing and governing cloud architecture at Gain. Focused on secure and scalable cloud solutions using AWS, Azure, and GCP.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement enterprise-grade cloud architectures covering compute, storage, networking, and application layers.
  • Establish architecture standards, reference models, and best practices for hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
  • Translate business and technical requirements into secure, scalable cloud solutions.
  • Evaluate emerging cloud technologies and recommend adoption strategies for innovation and performance.
  • Develop organisation-wide cloud strategies, guiding principles, and governance models.
  • Define and implement architectural review processes, ensuring compliance with design and deployment standards.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders on cost optimisation, workload placement, and cloud maturity advancement.
  • Design and implement secure architectures integrating identity, encryption, and data protection frameworks.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, ISO 27001, GDPR, and other industry standards.
  • Partner with Information Security teams to embed security by design across all platforms.
  • Architect and deliver automation solutions using Terraform, Ansible, and CloudFormation for repeatable deployments.
  • Oversee IaC design standards and repository version control, ensuring reliability and maintainability.
  • Promote CI/CD integration for infrastructure and applications, fostering end-to-end automation.
  • Define and implement system monitoring and observability architecture using CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Datadog, etc.
  • Establish performance baselines, identify optimisation opportunities, and improve cost efficiency.
  • Support troubleshooting high-level cloud incidents and guide teams toward systemic improvements.
  • Act as a cloud subject matter expert to IT Operations, DevOps, and Development teams.
  • Provide architectural reviews, technical guidance, and mentorship on cloud technologies.
  • Collaborate in cloud roadmap planning and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Follow Gain’s Change and Release process and participate in CAB meetings for review and approval of cloud deployments.
  • Ensure all designs incorporate robust monitoring, testing, and automation.
  • Maintain documentation and diagrams for cloud architecture, integration points, and dependencies.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) in enterprise-scale designs.
  • Strong knowledge of networking, storage, virtualisation, and hybrid architectures.
  • Expertise in Infrastructure as Code, automation tools, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Deep understanding of IAM, security architectures, and compliance frameworks.
  • Skilled in scripting languages (Python, Bash, or PowerShell).
  • Experience with containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Solid architectural documentation and communication skills using frameworks like TOGAF or AWS Well-Architected.
