About the role

  • Senior Financial Analyst role providing financial insights and analytics to support manufacturing operations at S&C Electric Canada. Blending FP&A, analytics, and cost analysis for operational decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain driver-based budgets and forecasts using Oracle EPM Cloud or similar platforms.
  • Partner with Operations and Commercial teams to model production volumes, labour/overhead changes, absorption trends, and profitability drivers.
  • Conduct scenario analysis to support strategic planning.
  • Prepare month-end and quarterly performance reports, including KPI packages, variance analysis, and executive summaries.
  • Build, automate, and maintain Power BI dashboards (inventory KPIs, throughput, value stream performance, variances, margin insights).
  • Analyze financial and operational data to identify trends, risks, opportunities, and root causes.
  • Serve as Finance’s strategic partner to production value stream leaders, providing insights into operational performance and cost drivers.
  • Translate operational data into clear financial recommendations that influence decision-making.
  • Support continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives through data-driven insights.
  • Provide targeted cost analysis in partnership with the Senior Cost Accountant (without duplicating core costing tasks).
  • Strengthen internal controls over inventory movement, valuation, scrap, and intercompany financial flows.
  • Support physical inventory and cycle count reviews from an analytical/FP&A perspective.
  • Present insights to Production Operations, Operations Leadership, and Commercial teams in a clear, compelling narrative.
  • Create SOPs and documentation for financial processes, analytics workflows, and reporting standards.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings and initiatives as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or related field.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in Cost Accounting/FP&A within manufacturing or complex operations.
  • Strong command of standard costing, overhead/labor rate setting, inventory valuation, and variance analysis; excellent month/quarter close discipline.
  • Proven Power BI capability (data modelling, DAX, KPI dashboards) and advanced Excel; strong data storytelling.
  • Demonstrated business partnering with Operations/Production value streams; ability to identify drivers/KPIs and influence outcomes.
  • Continuous-improvement mindset, strong internal-control orientation, and crisp written/oral presentation skills.
  • Hands-on Oracle EPM Cloud (budgets/forecasts) and familiarity with Oracle ERP/Financials (Costing; GL/AP/AR an asset).
  • CPA or CFA or equivalent professional designation is an asset.
