About the role

  • Serve as a regional river scientist for an assigned region
  • Conduct fieldwork to field verify and apply the Statewide River Corridor Map in a regulatory context
  • Work collaboratively with other subject matter experts in the program and agency
  • Support Flood Safety Act regulatory requirements, Stream Geomorphic Assessments (SGA), quality assuring collected data
  • Provide data synthesis and analysis, and providing recommendations with respect to priority actions and tools to better protect the river resource
  • Communicate technical information, both orally and in writing, to a variety of audiences

Requirements

  • Master's degree or higher in a biological-life or physical science, engineering, a social science, data science, or an environmental or natural resources field.
  • OR Bachelor's degree or higher in a biological-life or physical science, engineering, a social science, data science, or an environmental or natural resources field AND one (1) or more years of experience in a natural resources field.
  • OR Four (4) years or more of experience in an engineering, environmental, social science, data science, or natural resources field.
  • Able to oversee State’s SGA Protocols, field data collection and analysis methods in their region.
  • Highly proficient in the application of ESRI ArcGIS mapping software.
