About the role

  • Engineering internship providing support to water and wastewater infrastructure projects. Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team at Stantec to gain real-world experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide general support to engineers and technologists within the Process Water group.
  • Support the field construction and commissioning team on ongoing projects. This may involve:
  • Monitoring and reporting on current construction activities.
  • Assisting the commissioning lead with startup and commissioning activities.
  • Onsite document management including deficiency reviews, asset management, document review, and quality assurance.
  • Utilize knowledge of the general concepts of relevant basic engineering elements.
  • Generate preliminary calculations and reports.
  • Review drawings and complete audits on relevant project design elements.
  • Perform due diligence and research on projects as required to provide the background information to start new projects.
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

Requirements

  • 3rd or 4th year engineering students able to take an internship/co-op term are encouraged to apply.
  • Valid driver’s licence and a satisfactory driving record, with the ability to travel to project sites as required.
  • Highly motivated, willing to work in a team-oriented environment, and ready to commit to Stantec's strategic initiative to be among the #1 Most Sustainable Corporation Among Industry Peers firms.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with Access, Project, or similar tools is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize work, manage multiple tasks, and follow direction while meeting project requirements.
  • Attention to detail, with the ability to review own work for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with project objectives.
  • Willingness to learn, ask questions, and actively contribute to problem‑solving through critical and creative thinking.
  • Professional, respectful, and positive communication style in both written and in‑person interactions.
