About the role

  • Quality Assurance Engineer responsible for developing QA strategies at desk:box. Building processes and standards to ensure software quality for digital office solutions.

Responsibilities

  • You will build the Quality Assurance area at desk:box and shape how we think about and live quality.
  • You will develop our QA strategy and establish processes suited to a growing startup — pragmatic, yet sustainable.
  • You will define testing standards and ensure quality is not an afterthought but part of our DNA.
  • You will manually test new features and identify where automation makes sense.
  • You will work closely with our development team — short communication channels and direct feedback.
  • You will keep an eye on compliance: as GoBD-certified software we must meet regulatory requirements.
  • In the future, you will build and lead a small QA team.

Requirements

  • Several years of experience in quality assurance for web applications
  • You know the difference between "it works on my machine" and "it works" — and you know how to ensure the latter
  • Experience with manual testing methods and a strong instinct for where bugs hide
  • Basic understanding of test automation (E2E, integration, unit tests) — you don’t have to script everything yourself, but you should know what’s possible
  • Ability to document test processes and communicate them to others
  • Nice-to-haves: experience with test automation frameworks (Cypress, Playwright, Selenium or similar)
  • Knowledge of API testing (Postman, REST clients)
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and how testing fits into them
  • Understanding of compliance requirements (GoBD, GDPR) or willingness to learn
  • Initial leadership experience or the desire to grow into a leadership role

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and a permanent contract — startup energy on a stable foundation
  • 30 days of vacation — because thorough testing needs a clear head
  • Flexible work: remote work and flexible hours are a given
  • Real creative freedom: you will build a function from scratch — a rare opportunity. Seize it
  • Short decision paths: flat hierarchies and direct access to development and management
  • Employer contributions to savings plans (vermögenswirksame Leistungen) and additional benefits
  • Career perspective: grow with the company — from the first QA owner to team lead
