About the role

  • Temporary Works Manager for Hinkley Point C nuclear power station ensuring compliance and safety in project delivery. Handling engineering design, risk management, and temporary works supervision with a focus on Zero Harm.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the safe, compliant and timely delivery of Temporary Works (TW) across assigned packages
  • Lead and manage all aspects of Temporary Works for allocated work packages in line with BS 5975:2019 and Dalkia procedures
  • Establish and maintain the Temporary Works Register, ensuring traceability from design brief through design, check, installation, inspection/test, certification, use, modification and removal
  • Operate and champion a robust permit-to-load / permit-to-strike process and ensure correct use of Form TW/equivalent project controls
  • Collaborate closely with client and contractors’ TWCs/TWSs to assure compliance, resolve issues and align programme interfaces
  • Ensure risk identification and Design Risk Management (DRM) are embedded within all TW activities
  • Lead the development of Temporary Works design briefs reflecting actual site conditions and constraints
  • Oversee production of Temporary Works designs by the TWD
  • Ensure independent design checks by a competent TWDC not involved in the original design
  • Direct and review stress calculations, structural analysis and load assessments
  • Confirm no adverse effects on Permanent Works through design interfaces, checks and post-completion verification
  • Ensure full compliance with CDM 2015 designer and contractor duties and all relevant legislative/industry standards
  • Establish and implement Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and quality control checklists for TW installation, maintenance and removal
  • Ensure timely completion of certification and accurate as-built records
  • Report to the Dalkia TWDI and work in partnership with the NNB Temporary Works Lead

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or related discipline)
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) with a recognised institution (e.g., ICE or IStructE)
  • CITB Temporary Works Coordinator certification
  • Temporary Works Design certification (CITB or equivalent)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Lead TWC (or equivalent senior TW management role) in an engineering construction environment delivering complex TW
  • Demonstrable experience overseeing stress calculations, structural analysis and load assessments for TW
  • In-depth knowledge of BS 5975:2019 and Temporary Works principles
  • Strong understanding of CDM Regulations 2015 design and contractor obligations
  • Extensive knowledge of construction methods, sequencing and materials relevant to TW
  • CAD/BIM and analysis platforms: AutoCAD, Revit, STAAD.Pro, Tekla (or equivalents)
