About the role

  • Managing Director overseeing financial operations for Save the Children's international programming. Ensuring high-quality financial support for critical activities including budget management and contract oversight.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, monitor and manage overall financial operations across multiple country teams; overseeing project planning, budgeting and spending, grant management, and staff resourcing
  • Conduct regular analysis of financial data, and prepare financial performance reports including, but not limited to, budget vs. actual, forecast expenses, and trends
  • Partner with program leadership team, identifying and addressing financial risks and opportunities, solving complex financial problems and establishing policies and procedures
  • Ensure efficient use of resources, overseeing finance teams and budget holders to ensure they are maximizing funds
  • Develop relationships with SCI and country offices, clarifying roles and responsibilities across the movement and ensuring they are equipped with the necessary financial tools and information to effectively implement the award
  • Coordinate with regional and country office leadership to establish effective strategies to identify and mitigate risks within the portfolio; escalating issues as appropriate
  • Oversee and lead the development of systems and structures for consistent SCUS financial oversight of the international portfolio for the entire life cycle of awards

Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience
  • Proven experience in nonprofit financial management, grant management, and subaward management
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with individuals and teams at all levels, both internally and externally
  • Willing and able to travel domestically and internationally up to 20% of the time
  • Professional proficiency in MS Office suite
  • Professional proficiency in spoken and written English
