About the role

  • Process Safety Management Manager overseeing and improving safety protocols in chemical manufacturing at Benjamin Moore. Leading a team to ensure compliance and promote safety best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, maintain, and continuously improve the OSHA PSM program across manufacturing sites.
  • Ensure full compliance with OSHA, EPA RMP, NFPA, and internal safety standards.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for all 14 PSM elements, providing training, coaching, and oversight.
  • Lead and facilitate Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOPs, What-If studies, and Layer of Protection Analyses (LOPAs).
  • Oversee Management of Change (MOC) processes to ensure safe execution of process modifications, scale-ups, and equipment changes.
  • Coordinate Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSRs) to ensure safe commissioning of new or modified systems.
  • Partner with Operations, R&D, Quality, and Plant EHS teams to identify hazards, troubleshoot issues, and implement safe process designs.
  • Provide PSM technical guidance for batch mixing, dispersion, milling, tinting, filling, resin reactions, and other covered processes.
  • Support capital projects by ensuring integration of safety requirements from concept through startup.
  • Maintain and update critical PSM documentation including P&IDs, SOPs, process flow diagrams, equipment files, and engineering records.
  • Conduct compliance audits, gap assessments, and incident investigations; drive corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ensure timely completion of mechanical integrity inspections, testing, and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Lead initiatives to reduce process safety incidents, enhance system reliability, and strengthen operational discipline.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture through training, visibility on the floor, and robust engagement with frontline employees.
  • Apply Lean/CI methodologies to streamline PSM processes and improve program effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related engineering disciple
  • 5+ years of experience in chemical, coatings, or related process industries; at least 2 years supporting or managing OSHA PSM elements.
  • Strong understanding of chemical manufacturing operations, process safety principles, and hazard-based risk management.
  • Demonstrated experience leading PHAs, MOCs, incident investigations, and PSM audits.
  • Proficiency with process design tools, CAD, data analysis software, and Microsoft Office; familiarity with MS Project and Teams.
  • CI, CSP, ASP, or PSM-related certifications are a plus.
  • Continuous Improvement (CI) certification or Lean/Six Sigma certification is a plus.
  • PMP or equivalent project management certification is a plus.
