About the role
- Lead the global compliance strategy and governance for BASF’s Coatings division. Collaborate with legal teams ensuring compliance and managing diverse governance initiatives across regions.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development, implementation and execution of the global compliance strategy for the Coatings division
- Ensure alignment with corporate objectives and legal compliance requirements
- Manage governance matters for the Coatings division
- Collaborate with global compliance officers and provide guidance
- Oversee compliance advice in areas such as sanctions and anti‑corruption law
- Manage and coordinate compliance training and awareness programs
Requirements
- Law degree (German First and Second State Examinations/qualified lawyer in Germany)
- 10–15 years of professional experience
- 5–10 years of compliance experience in an international company
- Leadership experience and deep expertise in compliance (sanctions, anti‑corruption, criminal law, data protection)
- Strong communication skills in German and English (additional languages a plus)
- Excellent analytical, communication and negotiation skills
- Strategic, solution‑oriented, resilient, proactive and hands‑on mindset
- Strong networking and collaboration skills; organized and detail‑oriented
- Commitment to compliance advisory and enforcement with sound judgment
- Ability to explain complex compliance issues to non‑lawyers
