About the role

Responsibilities
- Technical analysis and expert assessment
- Conduct condition and capacity assessments of heavy mechanical systems for dams and existing hydroelectric facilities
- Perform technical diagnostics, detailed inspections and expert evaluations of in-service mechanical equipment
- Assess compliance, safety, reliability and remaining service life of equipment
- Formulate technical recommendations for refurbishment, code-compliance upgrades or replacement of equipment
- Design, rehabilitate or replace heavy mechanical equipment
- Carry out advanced sizing and design calculations (static and dynamic loads, stability, fatigue, wear, in-service behaviour)
- Participate in preliminary and detailed design, including selection of materials, mechanisms and construction solutions
- Contribute to the preparation of technical drawings and specifications for tenders, refurbishment works or new installations
- Provide technical support during fabrication, installation, testing and commissioning
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) or eligible for membership
- Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in heavy mechanical engineering, industrial mechanics or dam mechanical systems
- Significant experience with hydroelectric facilities, dams or hydraulic infrastructure (major asset)
- Excellent knowledge of standards, codes and best practices applicable to dam mechanical equipment
- Strong technical judgment, autonomy and ability to address complex engineering problems
- Excellent command of French, both spoken and written; functional knowledge of English
