About the role

  • Provide billing and collections support to enhance medical revenue cycle operations. Engage with patients and healthcare providers to ensure compliance and resolution of accounts.

Responsibilities

  • Provides administrative support in the billing and collections function of the medical revenue cycle process.
  • Prepares new charges, completes insurance verification, maintains patient records, and is responsible for collecting on outstanding accounts receivable.
  • Understands and maintains all governmental, regulatory, and company billing and compliance regulations and policies for payers
  • Assists patients in the resolution of the accounts, including processing payments by phone, setting up payment plans, filing appeals, and providing information to patients regarding intraoperative monitoring (IOM) services
  • Addresses patient billing inquiries and concerns from patients, surgeon offices, and facility customers
  • Obtains and documents all necessary information by contacting the patient, physician's office, hospital, next of kin, insurance carrier, etc.
  • Identifies and reports to management any payer issues with regards to billing and collections
  • Reviews and logs correspondence regarding patient balances and collections
  • Processes, maintains, and rectifies accounts/records in a timely manner
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Typically requires a minimum of 1-2 years of related experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • High level of quality awareness, accuracy, and attention to detail
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Data-oriented with basic proficiency in MS Office Applications, strong analytical skills, and the ability to create detailed reports
  • Sense of urgency and customer-oriented mindset with understanding of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliance and Protected Health Information (PHI)
  • Ability to work independently, multitask and handle various priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
