Provide billing and collections support to enhance medical revenue cycle operations. Engage with patients and healthcare providers to ensure compliance and resolution of accounts.
Responsibilities
Provides administrative support in the billing and collections function of the medical revenue cycle process.
Prepares new charges, completes insurance verification, maintains patient records, and is responsible for collecting on outstanding accounts receivable.
Understands and maintains all governmental, regulatory, and company billing and compliance regulations and policies for payers
Assists patients in the resolution of the accounts, including processing payments by phone, setting up payment plans, filing appeals, and providing information to patients regarding intraoperative monitoring (IOM) services
Addresses patient billing inquiries and concerns from patients, surgeon offices, and facility customers
Obtains and documents all necessary information by contacting the patient, physician's office, hospital, next of kin, insurance carrier, etc.
Identifies and reports to management any payer issues with regards to billing and collections
Reviews and logs correspondence regarding patient balances and collections
Processes, maintains, and rectifies accounts/records in a timely manner
Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
Typically requires a minimum of 1-2 years of related experience
High school diploma or equivalent required
High level of quality awareness, accuracy, and attention to detail
Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Data-oriented with basic proficiency in MS Office Applications, strong analytical skills, and the ability to create detailed reports
Sense of urgency and customer-oriented mindset with understanding of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliance and Protected Health Information (PHI)
Ability to work independently, multitask and handle various priorities in a fast-paced environment
Effective verbal and written communication skills
