About the role
- Patient Care Technician providing care in acute settings under nurse supervision. Assisting with daily living activities and monitoring patient conditions while adhering to healthcare policies.
Responsibilities
- Performs patient care activities including identifying and responding to abnormal findings.
- Appropriately escalate changes in the patient’s condition to the nurse.
- Provides assistance with patient elimination, hygiene, comfort, safety, nutrition, and progress activity.
- Practices patient and family centered care under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse.
- Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications.
Requirements
- Two (2) years of prior patient care experience (e.g. Certified Nursing Assistant, or Patient Care Technician) or similar role required, preferably in an acute care setting.
- Certified in Basic Life Support issued by (AHA) American Heart Association before hire.
- Phlebotomy skills check off required within 90 days of hire.
- Proficiency in all Core Competencies of the PCT position as noted in Memorial Hermann’s PCT Competency Based Tool and as validated by Memorial Hermann Clinical Education no later than the end of orientation.
