About the role

  • Senior Principal Legal Counsel providing legal advice on employment issues within Medtronic's Diabetes division. Collaborating with HR and management teams to ensure legal compliance and support business strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Advise and counsel business clients and management on legal issues related to employment law, workplace conduct and employee relations
  • Identify and manage internal and external legal resources as required to provide high-quality legal services at a reasonable cost
  • Supervise paralegal and administrative support personnel
  • Negotiate and prepare comprehensive contracts and agreements
  • Partner closely with HR teams and provide legal advice related to labor and employment issues
  • Investigate and respond to all labor and employment complaints filed by employees or former employees
  • Oversee affirmative action compliance and responses to OFCCP audits and reviews

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor with strong academic credentials from nationally recognized law school
  • 8+ years legal practice in employment law
  • 3+ years law firm or government experience litigating in employment law
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a matrixed organization
  • Extensive experience working in a team environment
  • Superior common sense, judgment, maturity and emotional intelligence
  • Integrity and strong ethical center
  • Exceptional advocacy in negotiating skills
  • Analytical risk identification, evaluation, and management skills
