About the role
- Senior Principal Legal Counsel providing legal advice on employment issues within Medtronic's Diabetes division. Collaborating with HR and management teams to ensure legal compliance and support business strategies.
Responsibilities
- Advise and counsel business clients and management on legal issues related to employment law, workplace conduct and employee relations
- Identify and manage internal and external legal resources as required to provide high-quality legal services at a reasonable cost
- Supervise paralegal and administrative support personnel
- Negotiate and prepare comprehensive contracts and agreements
- Partner closely with HR teams and provide legal advice related to labor and employment issues
- Investigate and respond to all labor and employment complaints filed by employees or former employees
- Oversee affirmative action compliance and responses to OFCCP audits and reviews
Requirements
- Juris Doctor with strong academic credentials from nationally recognized law school
- 8+ years legal practice in employment law
- 3+ years law firm or government experience litigating in employment law
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to work collaboratively in a matrixed organization
- Extensive experience working in a team environment
- Superior common sense, judgment, maturity and emotional intelligence
