About the role

  • Technical Inspector responsible for ensuring inspections and integrity in a chemical production site. Overseeing welding techniques, inspection processes, and compliance measures for facility operations.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure innovative, cost-effective and timely inspections for all equipment operated at the Münchsmünster site
  • Technical supervision to ensure plant integrity
  • Quality assurance for the execution of welding work
  • Technical point of contact at the site for welding technology, materials technology and non-destructive testing methods
  • Ensure the inspection process to track deadlines for recurring inspections and to handle defects and regulatory requirements
  • Drive the digitization and optimization of inspection processes and their integration into the maintenance process
  • Create and monitor welding records, repair and test instructions, and equipment-related test programs
  • Supervise deployed welders and monitor their qualifications/approvals
  • Coordinate, supervise and control costs for inspections performed by external specialists on static equipment, mechanical safety devices and piping in accordance with relevant regulations (BetrSichV, AwSV, WHG, etc.)
  • Define inspection intervals and scopes and monitor inspection processes in SAP
  • Participate in damage investigations and the preparation of risk assessments in cases of inspection postponements or inspection deficiencies
  • Define remediation measures in close cooperation with maintenance teams and operations
  • Manage test databases and documentation for piping, safety valves and pressure vessels
  • Plan, organize and oversee required inspections during turnarounds
  • Technically review material requests outside existing specifications
  • Workshop expediting and acceptance inspections at suppliers

Requirements

  • Completed training as a master craftsman (Meister) or technician in the fields of mechanical engineering, welding technology, materials technology, or an equivalent qualification
  • Several years of professional experience in the petrochemical, chemical or refinery industry
  • Experience in inspection or maintenance
  • Qualification as an authorized/competent person for pressure vessels and piping is an advantage but not required
  • Additional qualifications such as AwSV, WHG or specialist certification for operating technical X‑ray equipment are advantageous
  • Strong team skills, initiative, resilience and the ability to motivate others, as well as openness to new technologies
  • Very good German language skills; good English skills are an advantage.
