Responsibilities
- Audit & Assessment
- Analyze existing SSRS and Qlik report inventories, including RDLs, QVDs, datasets, and report subscriptions
- Evaluate and prioritize migration strategy based on complexity and business impact
- Reverse Engineering
- Extract complex business logic, calculations, and parameters from SSRS stored procedures and expressions
- Interpret Qlik set analysis and load scripts for accurate logic replication
- Power BI Development
- Rebuild complex dashboards and pixel-perfect reports using Power BI Desktop and Report Builder
- Develop optimized datasets, dataflows, and advanced DAX measures
- Convert Qlik scripting and set analysis into DAX and Power Query (M)
- Data Modeling
- Transform legacy relational and associative models into efficient star-schema Power BI semantic models
- Apply best practices in performance optimization and scalability
- Migration & Validation
- Ensure functional parity between legacy and new reports
- Conduct reconciliation, automated testing, and stakeholder user acceptance testing
- Governance & Security
- Implement row-level security (RLS), workspace governance, and data sensitivity controls
- Adhere to enterprise reporting standards and compliance requirements
- Documentation
- Document report logic, data lineage, technical specifications, and user guides
Requirements
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with Power BI Desktop, Power Query, DAX, and Power BI Service
- Strong expertise in SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), including RDL development
- Proven experience with Tableau
- Experience with Qlik Sense or QlikView scripting and data modeling
- Expert-level T-SQL skills, including complex joins, CTEs, and stored procedures
- Experience migrating or re-engineering reports from legacy BI platforms
- Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, ETL processes, and database optimization
- Experience developing Power BI Paginated Reports using Report Builder for pixel-perfect reporting requirements
