About the role
- Global R&D Director managing R&D teams in automotive sector at KYOCERA AVX. Leading innovation processes and resource planning in a multinational environment.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate, manage and further develop the global R&D team, including support for innovation processes, investment decisions and alignment with business strategy
- Lead the product design team with a strong focus on project control
- Implement standardized development structures and processes (APQP)
- Analyze global market trends and competitive developments to support strategic decision-making
- Own R&D strategy and resource planning
- Define and implement a design-to-cost strategy
- Drive optimization and expansion of global structures and processes and ensure local processes, procedures and tools comply with global standards
- Monitor research and development project progress to ensure timely completion
- Manage budgets and provide budget forecasts to ensure costs align with company targets
- Implement a self-financing cost center through development funds and sample purchases
- Lead intercompany development, coordination and presentation of strategic technology, product and system roadmaps
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering or a related field
- Several years of management experience in R&D for electronic systems in the automotive industry
- Strong understanding of R&D as well as material and manufacturing processes, innovation and project execution in an industrial environment
- Experience in multi-project management, financial/cost management and identifying new business opportunities
- Proficiency in MS Office applications
- Excellent German and English language skills, both written and spoken
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally at least 50% of the time
