About the role
- Global R&D Director managing innovation strategies for KYOCERA AVX in the automotive sector. Overseeing R&D processes and team collaboration to meet strategic objectives.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates, manages and further develops the global R&D team, including support of innovation processes, investments and alignment with the business strategy
- Leads the product design team with a strong focus on project control
- Implements standardized development structures and processes (APQP)
- Analyzes global market trends and competitive developments to support strategic decisions
- Owns R&D strategy and resource planning
- Defines and implements a design-to-cost strategy
- Drives optimization and further expansion of global structures and processes and ensures that local processes, procedures and tools comply with global standards
- Monitors research and development project progress to ensure on-time completion
- Manages budgets and forecasts to ensure costs align with company targets
- Implements a self-financing cost center through development funds and sample purchases
- Oversees intercompany development and coordinates and presents strategic technology, product and system roadmaps
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering or a related field
- Several years of management experience in R&D within electronic systems for the automotive industry
- Understanding of R&D as well as material and manufacturing processes, innovation and project execution in an industrial environment
- Experience in multi-project management, financial/cost management and identifying new business opportunities
- Proficient in MS Office applications
- Excellent German and English skills, both written and spoken
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally at least 50% of the time
