About the role

• User Research Intern assisting with research studies and data analysis at Kabam. Mentorship opportunities from experienced user research team available in Vancouver office.

Responsibilities

• Assisting in data collection through interviews, usability studies, or survey analysis.
• Observing participants and note-taking during sessions.
• Coding video and interviews for analysis.
• Gaining insights into what motivates players to play games.
• Assisting in setting up and preparing research studies.
• Support with recruiting participants for research studies.
• Learning about new research methodologies, both quantitative and qualitative.
• Developing a basic understanding of game user research.
• Learning about the game development process and how user research supports it.
• Developing strong relationships with the research team.
• Collaborating with the research team to contribute to research efforts.

Requirements

• Pursuing a Masters or PhD in a relevant field such as Psychology, Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Human Factors, or similar research programs.
• Knowledge of qualitative user research and analysis methods.
• Competency in quantitative user research and data analysis methods such as descriptive statistics.
• Familiarity with using Excel or similar tools to generate quantitative findings.
• Ability to switch between multiple projects.
• Strong communication skills.
• A passion for games.
• Comfort with public speaking/presenting to small audiences.
• Presentation design skills.
