About the role

  • Director of Asset & Contracts managing and ensuring integrity of motorway asset portfolio for Transport for NSW. Leading governance and assurance initiatives while optimizing asset performance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic governance and assurance oversight for NSW's motorway asset portfolio, ensuring infrastructure integrity, performance excellence, and optimal lifecycle value across toll roads and tunnels serving millions of customers
  • Lead strategic governance and assurance for NSW Motorways' asset portfolio, ensuring toll road, tunnel and tolling infrastructure is managed to deliver long-term asset performance, safety, environmental compliance, and public value outcomes
  • Set the strategic direction for asset stewardship, driving alignment between operational delivery and whole-of-government priorities
  • Establish and maintain robust assurance frameworks that monitor custodial performance, manage owner-related risks, and enable evidence-based decision-making
  • Guide investment planning, maintenance strategies, and operational activities to preserve asset integrity, reporting on performance against agreed standards while identifying and escalating risks, gaps, and opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Oversee critical asset management, operations, ITS and tolling contracts, vendor relationships, and financial reconciliation processes to safeguard revenue integrity and ensure compliance with contractual, legislative, and accounting requirements

Requirements

  • Strategic asset leadership – extensive experience in infrastructure asset management or transport operations with proven ability to deliver governance and performance outcomes across high-value, complex portfolios
  • Assurance and compliance expertise – demonstrated capability in establishing robust frameworks that monitor performance, manage risks, and drive benchmarking and continuous improvement in regulated environments
  • Customer-centred innovation – strong background in service design underpinned by research, data analysis, and emerging trends to inform evidence-based solutions and customer outcomes
  • Regulatory and commercial acumen – proven ability to interpret complex contractual and policy frameworks, providing authoritative advice that influences senior decision-making across government and industry
  • Stakeholder relationship management – track record of managing custodial or delegated relationships with clear accountability, collaboration, and shared commitment to strategic outcomes
  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications or demonstrated equivalent professional experience in asset management, engineering, finance, or related discipline
