About the role
- Lead operational technology backbone managing critical systems for Sydney's rail network. Drive operational excellence, strategic leadership, and align with broader business objectives.
Responsibilities
- Take executive accountability for the operational technology infrastructure and systems that underpin train control and rail communications across the Greater Sydney Network
- Lead the strategic management of data and voice networks, optical fibre systems, wireless infrastructure, condition monitoring, passenger information systems, and control systems
- Provide strategic leadership to a large, diverse workforce, building internal capability while driving continuous improvement in asset performance and long-term financial planning
- Develop and deliver Asset Management Plans and Maintenance Programs that balance operational excellence with commercial discipline
- Partner closely with internal and external stakeholders to align operational technology delivery with Sydney Trains' broader business objectives
- Drive efficiency, innovation, and commerciality while maintaining unwavering focus on safety responsibilities within Sydney Trains' safety management framework
Requirements
- Strategic technical leader with tertiary qualifications in electrical/electronic/telecommunications engineering or related discipline
- Proven track record in operations and maintenance leadership within complex, technology-driven environments
- Demonstrated success leading multi-discipline teams to deliver complex maintenance programs and technical solutions on time and within budget
- Deep expertise across Asset Management, networking, condition monitoring, control systems, and cyber security operations
- Strong foundation in Reliability Centred Maintenance, risk management, and configuration management processes
- Executive presence with the ability to provide high-level strategic advice and manage stakeholder expectations across government and industry
