About the role

  • Director of Philanthropic Growth focusing on establishing donor-advised funds and managing relationships with high-net-worth individuals in the Bay Area.

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute a lead generation strategy targeting high-net-worth individuals and families
  • Lead the development and implementation of prospect segmentation models and personalized cultivation pathways
  • Cultivate individuals who have already engaged with the Jewish Federation through prior giving, event participation, or other touchpoints
  • Own and manage a robust pipeline of qualified leads using Salesforce
  • Track progress against quarterly and annual goals for both immediate gifts and legacy commitments
  • Lead outreach and discovery calls/meetings with prospects
  • Develop and refine strategies to overcome objections and accelerate decision-making
  • Drive measurable results in gift closures and new fund creation
  • Work with the Chief Philanthropy Officer to coordinate the Business Strategy and Growth committee
  • Ensure seamless handoff from prospecting to stewardship

Requirements

  • Proven experience with major donor ($25,000+) solicitation and stewardship (or equivalent experience leading sales/business development in a for-profit environment)
  • Prior experience successfully leading fundraising teams is a huge plus
  • Passion for and understanding of the Bay Area Jewish community and philanthropy
  • Familiarity with the Jewish communal landscape, especially on the Peninsula
  • Experience communicating with tact and sensitivity with high-net-worth individuals from a wide diversity of backgrounds, perspectives and cultures
  • Experience advancing multiple projects that involve complex issues, various stakeholders, and deadlines to successful completion
  • Demonstrated background in tracking action items and ensuring detailed follow-through on existing and new initiatives
  • Experience supporting multiple priorities and juggling a variety of tasks for one or more individuals in a team environment
  • Exhibiting flexibility and adaptability to a variety of systems and approaches that align with internal and external stakeholder needs
  • Knowledge of business development, donor relations, donor-advised funds and/or planned giving is a plus
  • A minimum intermediate skill level using PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Office 365, and Outlook
  • Experience using a relational database, preferably Salesforce.
