About the role
- Hardware Integration Engineer responsible for developing and integrating UAV systems for JDI Integrations. Focused on autonomous drone platforms designed for edge operations.
Responsibilities
- Assemble drone platforms (Thunder Tiger or similar) from mechanical and electrical components into fully operational UAVs.
- Integrate and validate embedded systems: STM32, ESP32, BMS modules, and various sensors.
- Connect and calibrate IMUs, barometers, GPS, RF and Bluetooth modules for high-reliability data transfer.
- Perform fine-pitch SMD soldering and support custom PCB builds for prototype iterations.
- Route cables, power lines, and shielding to ensure EMI/EMC compliance and EW-resilience.
- Participate in field testing, troubleshoot hardware failures, and iterate designs.
- Collaborate with embedded, autonomy, and software teams to align system-level integration.
Requirements
- 7 + years of experience in UAV or robotics hardware assembly and integration.
- Strong knowledge of STM32 microcontrollers and peripheral communication (UART, SPI, I2C).
- Practical experience with ESP32 and wireless communication (Bluetooth, RF).
- Familiarity with IMU calibration and sensor data validation.
- Skilled in SMD soldering and PCB rework/assembly.
- Experience with battery systems and BMS-based power control.
- Understanding of electrical noise mitigation, grounding, and signal integrity in RF-sensitive environments.
- Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, BOMs, and mechanical layouts.
- Willingness to support in-field testing, rapid prototyping, and documentation.
