Senior Staff Accountant in finance driving monthly close. Interacting with multiple departments and ensuring accurate accounting and reconciliations.
Responsibilities
Record the company’s business activities by preparing journal entries and supporting schedules, and maintaining records and files
Reconcile bank statements
Review, maintain, and reconcile balance sheet and general ledger accounts monthly, ensuring balances and activity are complete, accurate and properly supported
Investigate and resolve account discrepancies
Perform income statement expense allocations to departments, states, markets, etc.
Assist with preparing schedules and providing support for the annual financial statement audit, tax returns, and other financial audits
Cross train with, and provide back-up support to, the Billing & Revenue Accountant, the Accounting Clerk, and the AR Team
Contribute to the development and implementation of new or amended accounting systems, programs, and procedures
Create and maintain a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) manual with documentation of accounting policies and processes
Work with other departments to find solutions to problems
Collaborate on department and company-wide initiatives
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred
Minimum of 3 years of public accounting or 4 years of industry accounting work experience with increasing abilities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot Table, Lookup functions, etc.) required
Oracle NetSuite experience preferred
Strong knowledge and experience with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Team-oriented self-starter with a desire to learn and understand the business
Critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills and naturally inquisitive, with the ability to spot discrepancies and issues and bring them to resolution or formulate and communicate recommendations
Ability to produce timely and accurate work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment

Strong organization and time management skills, including the ability to multi-task and prioritize
