About the role
- IT-Systemadministrator*in managing Windows-Server infrastructure at Fraunhofer IIS. Supporting research with a strong technical foundation and developing modern IT services.
Responsibilities
- At the largest institute of the Fraunhofer Society, our departments focus on research and development projects in artificial intelligence, microelectronics, sensor technology and data acquisition, as well as signal processing and transmission.
- As part of our IT team at Fraunhofer IIS, you ensure that research can build on a strong technical foundation.
- Our IT department plans, operates and develops the entire infrastructure – from clients and networks to server services, cluster solutions, media technology and telephony.
- You maintain our existing Windows server environments, analyze current systems and drive their sustainable development.
- You design modern IT services and implement them together with the team – from the initial concept to production deployment.
- As a point of contact for our departments, you ensure smooth IT processes and advise on the selection and use of IT services.
Requirements
- Completed vocational training as an IT specialist for system integration or in a related field
- Solid knowledge of Active Directory
- Microsoft Exchange
- System security
- Experience administering heterogeneous IT environments (Windows, Linux, macOS)
- Good PowerShell scripting skills
- Very good German and good English skills, both written and spoken
- Additional qualifications that are a plus — or that you can acquire with us: Experience with Microsoft Certificate Authority
- Knowledge in the administration of: web services, infrastructure services, MS SQL, specialized applications
- Experience with domain controller trust relationships and access-rights concepts for storage systems
- Experience with virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware)
