About the role

  • Senior Consultant working for PPI providing advanced underwriting support to advisors on complex cases. Responsible for managing underwriting processes and ensuring optimal outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with PPI advisors to provide advanced underwriting support for complex new business cases
  • Proactively manage all aspects of new business cases, from preliminary underwriting files to final approval
  • Respond to advisor queries regarding eligibility criteria and underwriting requirements
  • Act as the initial point of underwriting expertise for submitted advanced underwriting eligible cases
  • Review medical and financial requirements with thorough assessment
  • Package cases to optimize underwriting decisions and ensure favorable ratings
  • Maintain ongoing discussions with carrier underwriters on requirements and decision clarity
  • Collaborate on strategic opportunities to achieve the best possible client outcome
  • Discuss unfavorable decisions with advisors and involve the marketing team where appropriate
  • Review amendments and exclusions in final decision review to ensure accurate representation of underwriting process
  • Provide underwriting support for non-qualifying cases

Requirements

  • Must be fluently bilingual, both oral and written, in French and English
  • Undergraduate degree in a business-related program preferred
  • Minimum of 5-10 years’ experience in an underwriting environment
  • Industry designation(s) (AALU, FALU) preferred
  • Experience understanding needs of high net worth advisors
  • Considerable experience in a highly service-oriented role
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proven analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities with a strong attention to detail
  • Excellent organization and time management skills with proven ability to handle multiple priority tasks while meeting tight deadlines
  • Initiative to be innovative and creative with developing new ideas and concepts
  • Proven ability to handle confidential material with the highest level of discretion
  • Advanced degree of skill with Microsoft software applications, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook, as well as Internet proficiency
