About the role

  • Assurance Manager overseeing FSC’s accreditation and assurance system for sustainable forestry certification. Managing relationships with national bodies to ensure compliance and alignment with ISO standards.

Responsibilities

  • To manage the FSC application for system review with national accreditation bodies, coordinating with relevant FSC teams and ASI, FSC’s assurance service provider
  • To support FSC in the analysis, coordination and resolution of findings arising from scheme reviews, where applicable
  • To manage the ongoing compliance of FSC certification system with relevant accreditation and assurance legislation across different national contexts
  • To coordinate with relevant FSC teams and ASI to ensure alignment of FSC requirements with ISO requirements (mainly ISO 17065 requirements and ISO 17067 guidance)
  • To develop and implement a structure for informing and consulting the national accreditation bodies (including European Accreditation members) on changes to the FSC Normative Framework
  • To manage the relationship with the national accreditation bodies
  • To develop and maintain requirements for ASI in accordance with FSC’s standard setting procedure FSC-PRO-01-001, comprising the requirements for the assessment process and reporting of ASI to FSC and considering existing Key Performance Indicators
  • This will include holding consultations with stakeholders, managing an expert working group and drafting requirements

Requirements

  • Msc University or technical college degree in a relevant field (e.g. quality management, international relations, social sciences, business administration)
  • At least 5 years of work experience in one or more of the following areas: certification (standard development, auditing), quality management (quality assurance, quality control), assurance
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in evolving, ambiguous, or non-harmonized regulatory environments
  • Knowledge and experience in implementation of ISO 17065 and related ISO requirements for accreditation
  • Experience working with, or in the context of, national accreditation bodies and international accreditation fora
  • Very strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly
  • Experience in drafting requirements is an asset
  • Proven successful project management experience and writing of reports
  • A very strong sense for diligence and accuracy
  • Service and solution-oriented attitude to work
  • Proactiveness and high level of engagement
  • Style oriented on collaboration and team cohesiveness
  • Administration skills
  • Computer Skills - good skills in the use of/experience with: Good skills in the use of/experience with standard software packages (MS Office)
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to explain complex topics in a simple and user-friendly manner to non-technical audience
  • Experience or demonstrated ability to work in multi-cultural and diverse team
  • Excellent English (spoken and written)
  • Spanish and German language skills are an asset
