About the role
- Financial Counselor advising patients on payment for hospital services at Kent Hospital. Acting as a resource for staff regarding financial policies and assisting in payment arrangements.
Responsibilities
- Advise patients in matters dealing with payment for hospital services
- Act as a resource for hospital staff and external contacts regarding policies, procedures, and forms related to financial requirements
- Assist patients with payment arrangements and resolving open accounts
- Conduct follow-ups, resolve issues in a timely manner
- Verify third-party sponsorship eligibility and document information accurately
- Explain financial requirements and insurance benefits to patients
- Assess patient's eligibility for CNE Charity Care, payment arrangements, and health insurance opportunities
Requirements
- High School required; Bachelor's preferred
- Minimum of two years of hospital finance experience required
- State of RI Navigator Certification preferred (will train)
- Excellent human relations and communication skills
- Knowledge of personal computers and strong analytical skills required
- Scheduling flexibility and ability to work in a fast-paced clinical setting
- Occasional travel necessary
- Proficiency in English and Spanish preferred
