About the role

  • Senior Employee Relations Advisor addressing complex ER matters while coaching team within HR. Contributing to high-quality advisory services and continuous improvement in HR functions.

Responsibilities

  • Act as deputy to the Head of People Advice and lead the team in their absence
  • Provide expert guidance on complex ER cases, including disciplinary, grievance, performance, absence, and capability
  • Advise on high‑risk matters such as whistleblowing, settlement agreements, TUPE, redundancy, and tribunal preparation
  • Oversee the People Advice phone line, inbox, and business change requests
  • Build strong relationships with managers and leaders across the business
  • Analyse ER data to identify trends and support proactive interventions
  • Mentor People Advisors and support onboarding
  • Deliver ER training and contribute to policy development

Requirements

  • CIPD Level 5 or equivalent experience
  • Significant ER experience in a complex, fast‑paced organisation
  • Experience in a unionised environment
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law
  • Excellent coaching, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • High emotional intelligence and sound judgement
